Warri, Delta StateWARRI – In a vibrant display of cultural pride, the Ijaw MCs and Comedians Association officially held its inauguration ceremony today in Warri, Delta State. A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to the renowned broadcaster, Alaowei Victor Ebipade Ayabotu.
The award recognizes Ayabotu’s selfless service and his tireless efforts in promoting the Ijaw language and heritage over many years. The honor was presented by the Association’s President, MC Abioka, before a gathering of industry peers and community leaders.
Victor Ebipade Ayabotu is a veteran On-Air Personality (OAP) with the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri. He has earned widespread praise for his masterful delivery of Ijaw language programs, serving as a bridge between the traditional roots of the Ijaw people and the modern media landscape.
The Ijaw MCs and Comedians Association serves as a professional umbrella for entertainers across the Niger Delta. Under the leadership of MC Abioka—a legendary figure often referred to as the “Prince of Talk”—the group is committed to using the “gift of gab” to keep the Ijaw tongue alive. They are also setting high standards for masters of ceremonies and comedians, and guiding the next generation of Ijaw creative talents.
By honoring Ayabotu, the association reinforces its mission to celebrate those who use their voices and platforms to uplift the Ijaw people.
