Warri, Delta State – Today, Thursday, July 10, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the Congress Newspaper as it celebrates its fourth anniversary. The occasion, held at the TM Hotel on Airport Road, was a vibrant gathering of dignitaries, media professionals, and loyal readers, all celebrating a publication that has consistently championed the highest standards of journalism.
In his welcome address, Comrade Ozobo Austin, Publisher of Congress Newspaper, underscored the publication’s foundational belief: “At Congress Newspaper, we believe in the power of ethical journalism. It is a sacred responsibility to provide accurate information, to analyze events critically, and to report with integrity.” His words set the tone for an event that reflected on the paper’s journey and its dedication to serving the public.
Comrade Austin highlighted how this commitment has remained “steadfast” throughout their growth. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of their “dedicated team of journalists, writers, and editors” who strive to deliver news that is not only relevant but also enriching. Over the past four years, Congress Newspaper has covered a diverse range of stories, showcasing both the “challenges we face and the achievements we celebrate as a society.” This balanced approach ensures that readers receive a comprehensive view of the world around them.
The anniversary celebration was graced by an impressive array of guests. Chief Sheriff Mulade, President/National Coordinator of CEPEJ, served as the chairman of the occasion. The Special Guest of Honor was Barr Eric Omare, former president of the Ijaw Youth Council, while Mr. Mulu Anthony, a Nigerian/foreign-based diplomat, was also a Guest of Honor. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Enewarididieke Ekanpou, whose insights undoubtedly resonated with the audience.The presence of distinguished members of the press, along with the newspaper’s loyal readers and people from all walks of life, further emphasized the broad impact and respect Congress Newspaper has gained in its relatively short history.
