The Ijaw Nation stands at a vital turning point in its history. As we look toward the 2026 elections of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), the need for experienced, courageous, and steady leadership has always been greater. It is with a deep sense of duty and love for the Ijaw people that High Chief Dr. Se-Alabor Nengi James, OON, formally announces his intention to contest for the office of the President of the Ijaw National Congress.
High Chief Dr. Nengi James is a name synonymous with the Ijaw struggle. His track record is built on decades of active service and a firm belief in the rights of the Niger Delta people.
As a recipient of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), he is a statesman recognized at the highest levels for his contributions to regional peace and development.
Since he is currently serving as the Vice President II of the INC, he possesses an intimate knowledge of the organization’s challenges and its potential for greatness.
As a pioneer member of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), he was instrumental during the historic Kaiama Declaration, proving his lifelong commitment to the Ijaw cause.
Through his leadership in the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) and his role as a UN-POLAC Ambassador of Peace, he has consistently defended the marginalized Ijaw people and promoted justice.
Chief Nengi James believes in a “People-First” approach to leadership. To share his vision for a more united and prosperous Ijaw Nation, he invites the general public, distinguished Ijaw leaders, and members of the press to his official declaration.
