WARRI – The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in a big way. Instead of just a party, the organization is hosting a series of intensive, hands-on training sessions to give young people the tools they need to start their own businesses.
The atmosphere at the De Elis event center has been filled with energy and focus. Participants are diving into various practical skills, guided by expert instructors. The sessions include:
- Catering & Pastry: Mastering the art of cake baking, plus making popular small chops like Spring rolls and Samosas.
- Beauty & Style: Professional make-up application and the intricate art of Gele tying.
- Production: Practical lessons on how to formulate and produce high-quality soap.
This program is about more than just learning a craft; it is about building a future. SWUYN has announced that these sessions are the first step in a larger mission.
Upon completion, every participant will be issued an official SWUYN Certificate. More importantly, the organization is making arrangements to ensure these newly trained youths are empowered with the resources or equipment needed to launch their entrepreneurial journeys.
For a decade, SWUYN has been a voice for the youth, and this anniversary highlights their commitment to reducing unemployment through direct action. By turning “unemployed” into “self-employed,” these young men and women are proving that with the right skills and support, they can contribute greatly to the economy.
