Oruwhorun, Udu LGA, Delta State – Comrade Victor Warefa, a prominent political figure and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has strongly asserted that the beneficiaries of the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services, led by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), extend far beyond individuals of any single tribe. He emphasized that the positive impacts of the contract are broadly felt across all host communities of diverse ethnic groups throughout the Niger Delta.
Speaking passionately to Ezon Times (Ezon Efie) Media correspondent in Udu LGA about the tangible benefits of the security initiative, Comrade Warefa highlighted that the reduction in crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism has brought about a wave of shared prosperity and improved security for various communities, irrespective of their ethnic identity. “It is a misconception to limit the benefits of the Tantita contract to a particular tribe. This contract is a national asset protection initiative, and its successes reverberate across the entire Niger Delta, benefiting all host communities,” Comrade Warefa stated. “When oil production increases, it translates to more revenue for the federal and state governments, which in turn leads to more development projects, better infrastructure, and improved welfare for everyone in the region,” he added.
Comrade Warefa pointed out that before Tantita’s robust intervention, oil theft and illegal bunkering activities led to severe environmental degradation, economic hardship, and widespread insecurity, affecting all residents of the Niger Delta. He stressed that the current improved situation has positively impacted the daily lives of people from different ethnic backgrounds. “The illegal activities that Tantita is combating did not discriminate by tribe. These illegal activities polluted our rivers, destroyed our farmlands, and created an atmosphere of fear for all communities,” he explained. “Now, with Tantita’s operations, we are seeing cleaner environments, a resurgence of legitimate economic activities, and a general sense of peace that is enjoyed by Itsekiris, Urhobos, Ijaws, Isokos, Ndokwas, and all other tribes living in the oil-producing areas.”
Furthermore, Comrade Warefa noted that the employment opportunities created by Tantita Security Services also reflect this inclusivity, engaging youths and local residents from various communities as part of their surveillance and security network. This, he said, has helped to empower individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of collective ownership and responsibility for the protection of national assets.”The true beneficiaries are not just those directly employed by Tantita, but the entire ecosystem of businesses and livelihoods thrive when there is peace and stability,” Comrade Warefa declared.” The businesses of market women, traders, fishermen, and farmers are flourishing because the waterways are safer and the environment is recovering. This transcends any tribal affiliation.”
Comrade Warefa urged all stakeholders to recognize the broader impact of the Tantita contract and to resist any attempts to tribalize or politicize an initiative that has proven to be beneficial for the entire Niger Delta region and the nation at large. He reiterated the APC’s commitment to inclusive development and sustained peace across all communities.
