LAGOS, Nigeria – March 2026 — More than nine million members of the Christian organization, Jehovah’s Witnesses, have begun a worldwide campaign inviting members of the public to attend two special events aimed at highlighting the Bible’s promise of a better future for mankind.
The campaign includes the annual observance of the Lord’s Evening Meal, scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026, which commemorates the final meal Jesus Christ shared with his apostles. The event will feature a talk explaining what Jesus taught about mankind’s future and the hope contained in the Bible.
According to the National Spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria, Olusegun Eroyeimi, the observance has deep historical and spiritual significance for Christians.
“The life and teachings of Jesus have great significance to so many around the world. We hope this event, an observance recognized by Christians continuously for almost 2,000 years, helps visitors see how it connects us to a wonderful hope,” he said.
As part of the outreach campaign, Jehovah’s Witnesses will also invite the public to attend a special 30-minute Bible discourse titled “Who Will Restore the Earth?”. The talk will be delivered during March 2026 across more than 118,000 congregations worldwide.
The presentation will address key Bible themes including:
Man’s relationship with the earth
The Bible’s promise of earth’s restoration
How individuals can benefit from the promises contained in the Scriptures
Historically, the Lord’s Evening Meal traces back nearly 2,000 years to Nisan 14, 33 C.E., when Jesus instituted the observance with his apostles and instructed them, according to Luke 22:19, to “keep doing this in remembrance of me.”
Jehovah’s Witnesses commemorate the event annually on the corresponding date of the Jewish calendar. Last year, the observance drew more than 21 million attendees worldwide, including many non-members.
The organization stated that both the special talk and the memorial observance are free and open to the public.
